Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between White and Black Sesame Oil?
Answer: White Sesame Oil is lighter in color, has a milder/sweeter taste, and is preferred for general cooking and light massage. Black Sesame Oil is darker, has a stronger earthy flavor, and is preferred for medicinal (Ayurvedic) use and heavy conditioning.
2. Is this oil "Toasted" (Chinese Style)?
Answer: No. We supply Raw Cold Pressed Oil. "Toasted" sesame oil is dark brown and made from roasted seeds, used purely for flavoring. Our raw oil is golden and mild, suitable for both cooking and skincare.
3. Can I use this for cooking?
Answer: Yes. It is an excellent cooking oil with a relatively high smoke point. It is widely used in South Indian cuisine and for tempering (tadka) in various dishes.
4. Is this oil good for massage?
Answer: Absolutely. It is one of the most popular massage oils in the world. It is slightly lighter than Black Sesame oil, making it perfect for daily body massage (Abhyanga) without feeling too heavy or sticky.
5. Does it contain preservatives?
Answer: No. Our Cold Pressed oil is 100% pure and natural. Sesame oil contains natural antioxidants called Sesamol and Sesamin, which naturally prevent the oil from going rancid, giving it a long shelf life.
